Pendeen

Pendeen offers an opportunity to experience a smaller mining community than St Just. With its pub, church and school the village is an example of a small mining community surrounded by the mines where the men, women and children worked. The churchyard in Pendeen has graves commemorating mineworkers who died overseas, in South Africa, America and other destinations.

Pendeen is the closest village to the Geevor Tin Mine, the most recently active mine in the St Just Mining District, which closed in 1990.
