South Caradon Mine

South Caradon Mine was one the richest copper mines in the country when it was at its height. A number of paths lead from the nearest car park at Tokenbury Corner on the Liskeard-Launceston road (B3254) to the dramatic remains of South Caradon Mine. The walk to South Caradon Mine is only recommended for strong and confident walkers and people using offroad wheelchairs or trampers. A round trip to South Caradon Mine is a couple of kilometres and there are no seats or resting points on the way. All the paths are challenging and steep in places. They are either rocky former mining tracks or grassy and boggy tramways leading to grass slopes that cross the moorland.

There is a free car park at Tokenbury Corner on the Liskeard - Launceston road (B3254).
The 74 bus (Liskeard - Callington) stops on the opposite side of the road from the car park on the B3254.
The car park is unmade, loose in places with potholes and standing water after rain.
There is no seating or shelter in the car park or at South Caradon Mine.
The nearest facilities are nearby in Pensilva.
Trevallicks farm shop and tearoom is close to Tokenbury Corner.

All of the paths from the car park to the mine are step-free and stile-free however they are challenging, with steep sections, rocky, loose, uneven and boggy surfaces, with no seats or resting points.
